The Songwriting Summit is a one of a kind program dedicated to all aspects of songwriting. Morning sessions will focus on the creativity and craft of writing, including melody, harmony, lyric writing, form, and jump-starting the creative process. Students will work in solo and group writing sessions and will be coached by individual members of the NGW Songwriting faculty. Afternoon sessions will begin with a daily master class from each member of the faculty. Following these master classes, students will move into performance seminars. Martin Sexton and Robert Lee Castleman will each be presenting an afternoon Master Workshop.
Songwriting Industry Seminars
Students will attend seminars dedicated to the songwriting business. These seminars will be led by leading industry professionals. All aspects of the music business for songwriters will be covered in these seminars, including, marketing and promoting your music, finding a record deal, copyright, publishing, and much more.
The NGW/Acoustic Guitar Songwriting Contest
This contest will be open to all NGW Songwriting Summit students, and will be adjudicated by panelists from the morning session. The winner of the contest will receive the following prizes:
- A one-week, full scholarship to the 2011 National Guitar Workshop
- Video recording of winning performance will be posted on the websites of Acoustic Guitar and the National Guitar Workshop
